Charles Malenich Obituary

Charles N. Malenich (Chuck or Charlie), 85 of Heilwood, PA passed away at his home on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
He was the son of Nicholas and Mary (Dancha) Malenich, born on January 12, 1934 in Confluence, PA.
Charlie loved polka music, gardening, and cooking. He graduated from Vintondale High School in 1952, he also attended the Lewistown State Fire Academy in 1951. Charlie served in the Vintondale Fire Co until 1972. He was one of the Founding Fathers, as well as a charter member of the Pine Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. organized in 1967. Charlie was instrumental for the construction of the fire hall and purchasing of the 1972 Ford Pumper, the first new truck for the Pine Twp. Fire Co. and served as secretary, first assistant chief and forest fire warden. He also helped to develop life time membership guidelines for Pine Twp. Fire Co. Chuck was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood, formally the St. John the Baptist. He served on both the church picnic board and Parish Council.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years whom he married on September 10, 1955 Kathryn A. (Compardo) Malenich, two children, Charlene (Ron) Valazak and Chuck (Donna) Malenich and Peanut his favorite four footed friend, seven brothers and sisters, Mary Ann (Ron) Depto, Margaret (Chuck) Cox, Anna Maypole, Paul Malenich, John (Terri) Malenich, Joe Malenich, Leona (Don) Yahner, eight grandchildren, Dominic (Katie) Veltre, Anthony Veltre, Scott Valazak, Melanie Valazak, Dan (Katy) Valazak, Jessica (Cody) Ewert, Chris (Katie) Malenich, Justin Malenich, and nine great-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter - Barbara Ann Malenich , three brothers, George, Nicholas and Edward, parent in laws, John and Mary Compardo.
The family would like to thank the Indiana Co. VNA Hospice and to the Guardian Home Health Aids for all their special care and compassion.
