Dorothy Marie (Johnston) Howorth, 101 of Commodore, PA., passed way on Saturday, December 28, 2019 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of William and Effie (Carr) Johnston born on April 12, 1918 in Homer City, PA.
Dorothy lived her life in the Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer area before moving to Commodore in the 1940’s with her husband Thomas Howorth, whom she married on May 12, 1940. They shared over 50 years of marriage before he passed away on January 13, 1991.
Dorothy in her early days was employed by the Purchase Line School District as a cafeteria worker and a head start aid. She was a lifetime member of the Clymer Christian Church and the Dixonville and Commodore Card Clubs.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Russell) Hoy, of Strongstown, PA, Carole (Richard) Doray of Beaufort, SC, and Marjorie (Daniel) McCullough of Commodore, PA., 14 grandchildren, Debbie (Joe) Rorabugh, LuAnn Rogerson, Rusty (Barb) Hoy, Cheryl Brooks, Rick (Gailyn) Doray, Robbie (Paige) Doray, Diane Ellis, Darren (Ashley) Doray, Crystal (Daniel) Moore, Cathy (Bill) Burns, Ryan (Jessica) Doray, Tricia (Mike) Goncher, Karen (Ken) Woods, Dan (Kim) McCullough, 47 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren with two more expected this summer.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Howorth and five siblings, Ethel Learn, Mildred Johnston, Alfred (Clair) Johnston, Emory Johnston and infant sister and two infant great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St. Clymer. Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 pm at the Funeral Home with Pastors, Robert Sunseri and Robert White. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
