Ida Marjorie "Marge" G. Braughler

Ida Marjorie “Marge” (Galbreath) Braughler went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2019. She was born in Indiana, PA on August 15, 1930 to James and Mary (Weaver) Galbreath.  She had one sister who died at childbirth.  Marge graduated from Indiana Senior High in 1948 and then attended Indiana Normal School (now IUP) for a short time.  She worked at McCreary’s Tire and Rubber where she met some of her lifelong friends.  She and her sorority sisters remained in close contact throughout their entire lives.

In 1958, she married Murray Braughler who passed away in 2010.  This born and reared city girl then moved to the Braughler family farm near Clymer PA where they raised black angus cattle and reared three sons. She also worked at Pikes Peak Nursery for a time in the office.  She was active in Penns Manor High School PTA and Band Moms where she spearheaded new uniforms for the band during her years of service there.  As the boys got older, she and Murray got involved in 4-H and then the Indiana County Fair, first as volunteers and then as department supervisor, even in retirement they worked the gates and displays.  Marge never missed an Indiana County Fair in her entire life except during the war years when the fair did not meet.  When they retired from work and farming, they travelled all over the continent and eventually became snowbirds in Winter Haven, FL.  But they always called Indiana, PA home.

Marge was involved with her church, Calvary Baptist-Clymer, in the adult choir and for a time as Sunday School Secretary.  During retirement, Murray and Marge remained active and supportive of Calvary Baptist Academy rarely missing a concert, event or ball game.  “Grandma Marge” will be missed by multiple generations of kids at Calvary Baptist Church and Academy.

All who knew Marge knew she loved animals, especially little dogs and cats.  All the four-footed friends at Moorehead Place could always find a treat and a belly rub at Marge’s room.

She is survived by her three sons:  Jim (and Heidi) of Watertown, WI; Calvin (fiancée Melanie Buterbaugh) of Indiana, PA and Bruce (and Jo) of New Glarus, WI as well as grandsons Samuel and Malachi and a host of nieces and nephews all over the USA whom she called regularly and who often made the journey to PA to visit her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her husband.

Friends will be received on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St. Clymer, additional visitation will be on Tuesday from 9 am to 10 am at the Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer with the service to follow.  Interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
