Peter J. Polenik

Peter J. Polenik, 87, of Alverda, PA., passed away on January 7, 2019 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was the son of Matthew and Vincka (Chamborek) Polenik born September 4, 1931 in Mentcle, PA.

Peter was a Member of the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood.  He was a partner with his brothers of the Glory Coal Co. and owner of the Alverda Service Station.  Peter loved playing his harmonica and traveling with his wife.  His greatest love was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret E. (Yopchick) Polenik; four children, Jeffery Polenik and wife Carol of Clymer; Donna Simpson and husband Timothy of Pittsburgh; Matthew Polenik and wife Bridget of Alverda; Richard Polenik and wife Terri of Clymer; six grandchildren, Jessica, Kate, Allison, Zoe, Luke and Alex; also many nieces and nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Sue Buzminsky, Verna Polenik, Margaret Fiala, Mary Bartch, Josephine Polenik, and four brothers, John, Andrew, Paul and Frank Polenik.

Friends will be received on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer.  Military rites will be provided by the Clymer American Legion post 222 at 6:30 pm.  Peter’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood with Fr. George Saletrik, celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Cameron’s Bottom.
