Stephen C Zias Jr.

January 25, 1943 ~ January 20, 2019 (age 75)

Stephen Charles Zias, Jr. was born in Indiana, PA on January 25, 1943. He attended Indiana High School. He enjoyed swimming, running and weight lifting in his younger days. He trained as a welder and spent several years working at industrial manufacturing companies. Steve joined the Marines during the height of the Vietnam War even though he had an exemption and served in the war zone. He was always proud of being the “old man” in his platoon who could out run, out shoot and be the good example for his team mates. He remained part of the “Mean, Green, Marine Machine” throughout his life. Semper Fidelis!

Steve was well known around Clymer where he lived for many years and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved going to Luigi’s and Bob’s Pizza. Everyone knew Steve enjoyed Wapahos.

Steve is predeceased by father, Stephen Charles Zias, Sr, mother, Lois Jean (Pentz) Zias, wife, Helen (Lazarick) Zias, son Stephen Charles Zias, III, sister, Cynthia Sue Goletz   He is survived by brother, Barry L Zias (Annmarie Pawlowicz), brother in law, George Goletz, good friend (guardian angel) Alice Orange and several nieces and nephews. Alice has been dedicated to providing support and comfort to Steve for many years. Both Steve and Helen depended on Alice for advice and assistance during some difficult periods of their lives. She has been a true friend.

The caring staff at Indiana Square Personal Care Home, the dedicated doctors and nurses of the Indiana Regional medical center and the Veterans Administration professionals who traveled to visit him all worked tirelessly to make Steve’s life as good at it could be.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be conducted in the near future. He will be interred in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Helen, his long time wife and companion.
