Daniel Richard Fako of Indiana, PA., passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at his home .
The son of Mildred (Cox) and Joseph Fako, he was born on May 10, 1947 in Indiana.
Dan was a guidance counselor at Bishop Carroll High School for 4 years and Homer Center High School for 31 years.
He attended and was a member of the Clymer United Methodist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustees, Finance Committee and Administrator throughout his life. He loved to say GOD IS GOOD! He loved his LORD.
Dan loved to root for this favorite sports teams: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians. His loyalty to his teams could never be questioned.
One of Dan’s passions was coaching youth, school age and church league sports. During his coaching career, he coached Penns Manor School varsity and junior high boy’s basketball teams, Homer Center School varsity and junior high girl’s basketball teams, football, and baseball teams.
Along with many other volunteers, Dan revamped the Penns Manor elementary school basketball program and coordinated a summer basketball camp for 14 years, known as “Hoops Camp.”
During his playing career, Dan played football for Penns Manor and softball for many years.
Dan enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren. Nothing was so special as to having a gathering of both his children and all his grandchildren. He was known to spoil his grandkids!
Surviving are his wife: Diane (Cunningham) Fako; children Dena Diehl, Clymer, PA and David (Kelley) Fako, Indiana, PA; step-children; James (Nicole) Tyger, Indiana, PA, Daniel (Beth) Tyger, Mich., and Tracey (Tim) Kunkle, Indiana, PA; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Nicholas, Trent, Christian, Grant and Hayley; step-grandchildren: James, Jacqueline, Alicia, Adam, Sarah, Lauren and Alex; sister Janet (John) Wanchisn, Penn Run, PA.
Preceding Dan in death were his parents; brothers James (1982) and Lawrence (1997).
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2 -4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St. Clymer. Additional viewing will be on Monday from 9 -10 a.m. at the Clymer United Methodist Church with the service to follow. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
