James R. Barnes, 86 of Clymer, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was the son of Charles Neal and Olive Amanda (Lawhead) Barnes, born June 3, 1938, in Caroltown, PA. Jim was raised by his aunt and uncle, Robert and Helen Huber.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed driving trucks and heavy equipment. He was a jack of all trades and could do anything. Jim was a member of the Independent Country Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice Louise (Bracken) Barnes, four children, Daniel Barnes and wife Patti of Clymer, Debra Stiffler and husband Gene of Troy, PA, James Barnes Jr. and wife Becky of Orange, VA, Kristina Buterbaugh and husband Ricky of Clymer, two siblings, Kathleen and Dennis, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one son and daughter-in-law, Roger, and Connie Barnes, one granddaughter, Brook Rae, six siblings, David, Charles, Aurther, Virginia, Marjorie, and Rose Mary.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1pm to 3pm at the McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer. His funeral service will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Tom Pugh, officiant. Interment will be private for the family.
