Mary Alice Salerno Obituary

Mary Alice Salerno, age 85 of Indiana, PA died unexpectedly and peacefully at her residence on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

She was born on April 15, 1939 in Clymer, PA to Simon and Mary (Tatay) Misurda. She graduated from Clymer High School in 1956 and was employed as a secretary at the Indiana State Teachers College.

She married her late husband Edward J. Salerno on January 31, 1959. In addition to her role as a tirelessly devoted wife and mother, she worked as a receptionist and later as a payroll clerk at the Indiana Area School District. She was a faithful member of the St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a phenomenal cook, avid keeper of her yard and pool, and enthusiastic football fan. She enjoyed traveling with her Eddie, particularly to Florida, California, and Hawaii.

She is survived by her four children - Julie Rado and husband Len, Homer City, PA; Edward “Chip” Salerno and wife Chrissie, Clermont, FL; Matthew Salerno and wife Kim, Davenport, FL; Dr. Ava Marie Conlin and husband Col Christopher C. Conlin (USMC, Ret), Sacramento, CA; and six grandchildren whom she adored - Adrienne Salerno, Jerome Salerno, Luke Salerno, 1stLt Grace Conlin (USMC), 2LT Rose Conlin (USA), and Midshipman May Conlin (USN).

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Edward J. Salerno; her beloved grandson Jonathan Edward Rado; her parents; and her brother Julius Misurda.

Friends are invited to celebrate Mary Alice’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Dressler as the celebrant. Visitation at the church will begin at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery. The McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer is assisting the Salerno family.
