Matthew Bartus of Penn Run passed away June 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet Wikstrom, brother Peter Bartus, sister Mary (Chuck) Pluto, sisters-in-laws Geraldine Winniewicz, Elladean Wikstrom, Karen Wikstrom, Debbie (Carl) Caspersen, nephews & nieces Tracie Winniewicz, Regis Winniewicz, Beth Schenck, Jean (Justin) Hamrick, Stephen (Chris) Pluto, Chenoa Webster, and Birgitta Caspersen along with great nephews & nieces Kayla Schenck, Jerrahian Schenck, Logan Hamrick, Lucas Hamrick, Trevor McGlynn and Sequoia Schenck , and great nephews Kain and Yona.
Matthew retired from the City of Pittsburgh after 25 yrs of service, afterwards he worked for IUP and AGH, along with being an independent painting contractor. He was a local artist and pursued a variety of art mediums. He had a love of life and a positive attitude throughout his life, and with his sense of humor always made people laugh. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents William Bartus & Regina (Winniewicz) and siblings Regis Winniewicz and William Bartus.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St., Clymer, PA is assisting the Bartus family.
