Robert Geary Obituary

Robert L. (Bob) Geary, 75, of Clymer passed away on Saturday, August 3 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with his family by his side. Loving husband of his wife, Nancy (Barclay) Geary, devoted father to his three daughters, Heather, and fiancé’ Tim, Farrell, PA, Angie, Farrell, PA, and April, Clymer.

Bob was the oldest son of the late Joseph L. and Ida Mae Geary. A 1966 graduate of Penns Manor High School, Bob spent most of his life in Clymer. Following his four-year service in the U.S. Navy, Bob returned home working for his family grocery store, Geary’s market and later at Greensteel from where he retired. Bob loved to play golf in his younger days, playing in the Greensteel golf league and making trips to Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed bowling with Nancy in the Nutty Buddies couples league. His love of jigsaw puzzles is famous as he could complete 1,000-piece puzzles in one day. He framed and donated many of them. A member of the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren, Bob loved to spend time with the younger children of the church members, often giving them candy and small gifts in anticipation of the many hugs he received. A kind and generous man, he volunteered to drive many patients to dialysis and medical appointments.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, John, and Lucille Barclay.

He is survived by his immediate family, his siblings, Louise, Linda, Kathy, Joe, Mary, Ed, and Rick, sister-in-law, Mary Margaret and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at Purchase Line Church of the Brethren, 3711 Purchase Line Road, Clymer on Thursday, August 8 from 2 PM –4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. Additional visitation will before the church service the following morning from 10 AM – 11AM with his service following. Committal will take place at the church following the service with Pastor Dale Leverknight, officiating, with military rites provided by the Clymer American Legion post 222.  Interment will be made in the Thompson Cemetery, Hillsdale, PA.

Flowers can be sent to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses or in Bob’s name to Purchase Line Church of the Brethren. The McCabe~Roof Funeral Home, 565 Franklin St. Clymer is assisting the Geary family.
